Update Bandwidth for Distributed Storage

چکیده

In this paper, we consider the update bandwidth in distributed storage systems (DSSs). The bandwidth, which measures transmission efficiency of process DSSs, is defined as average amount data symbols transferred network when stored a node are updated. This paper contains following contributions. First, establish closed-form expression minimum attainable by irregular array codes. Second, after defining class codes, called Minimum Update Bandwidth (MUB) achieve determine smallest code redundancy MUB Third, parameters, with codes and can be equal, identified, allows us to define MR-MUB that simultaneously bandwidth. Fourth, introduce explicit constructions redundancy. Fifth, lower bound complexity used prove may not achieved Last, construct $(n = k + 2, k)$ vertical maximum-distance separable (MDS) all redundancy, optimal repair

Cost-Bandwidth Tradeoff In Distributed Storage Systems

Distributed storage systems are mainly justified due to the limited amount of storage capacity and improving the reliability through distributing data over multiple storage nodes. On the other hand, it may happen the data is stored in unreliable nodes, while it is desired the end user to have a reliable access to the stored data. So, in an event that a node is damaged, to prevent the system rel...

Hybrid Regenerating Codes for Distributed Storage Systems

Distributed storage systems are mainly justified due to their ability to store data reliably over some unreliable nodes such that the system can have long term durability. Recently, regenerating codes are proposed to make a balance between the repair bandwidth and the storage capacity per node. This is achieved through using the notion of network coding approach. In this paper, a new variation ...

Explicit Code Constructions for Distributed Storage Minimizing Repair Bandwidth

Regenerating codes are a class of recently developed codes for distributed storage, that permit data recovery from any k of n nodes, and also have the capability of repairing a failed node by connecting to any d nodes and downloading an amount of data, termed the repair bandwidth, that is on average, significantly less than the size of the data file. These codes optimally trade the storage spac...

A high-availability software update method for distributed storage systems

In this paper, we propose a nonstop system upgrade method without significant performance degradation for data management software. To reduce disk accesses and network traffic, we construct logical nodes inside a physical node and migrate data between the symbiotic logical nodes. This logical migration is assisted by storage management functions that hide data location and migration from users....

Storage and Repair Bandwidth Tradeoff for Distributed Storage Systems with Clusters and Separate Nodes

The optimal tradeoff between node storage and repair bandwidth is an important issue for distributed storage systems (DSSs). As for realistic DSSs with clusters, when repairing a failed node, it is more efficient to download more data from intra-cluster nodes than from cross-cluster nodes. Therefore, it is meaningful to differentiate the repair bandwidth from intra-cluster and cross-cluster. Fo...
